It's fine that you don't like them, but the microtransactions excuse isn't really a good one because I know of many games that have microtransactions but also have an offline mode. MMO's are still very much alive and well. There's only a couple I know of that still have that model and both are games that have been around for years (World of Warcraft and FFXIV).
